Vegetarian or Vegan?

I’ve recently discovered in the past few months that I’m slowly, more than ever, wanting to switch how I eat, and what I eat.

At first, I stopped eating pork entirely. Mainly because my body couldn’t digest it like before. Once I stopped doing that, I noticed that my GI tract improved. Over the course of 5-6 months, I ate meat 3 times a month, if that. My skin took a drastic change and started clearing up from ungodly blemishes. I was absolutely floored!

I am debating on whether or not to do the vegetarian or the vegan way of life. I’ve used Pinterest to guide me in certain recipes, as well as asking my lovely vegetarian/vegan friends. In the recent time that I’ve done my research, I’ve watch way too many “undercover” videos from organic farms, to the traditional farms to see the HORRIBLE treatment of animals. I have seen organic farms (which I only eat organic, non-GMO foods, so this was a SHOCK to me), abuse the crap out of their cows for their milk. Never in my wildest dreams would I ever imagine that type of treatment to an animal, on an ORGANIC farm!

Cows are just used as a breeding machine in order for the farms to get their milk. They are used until they can’t even walk or run freely anymore. I don’t believe labels and what they say in regards to being “pasture-raised, humanely-raised” anymore. I’m stopping it. I’m done seeing the lies people expect me to believe.I don’t want to pump my money into an industry that is making millions of dollars with the horrendous of the treatment of the cow, chicken, pig, and whatever other species they butcher. Pigs get boiled ALIVE for the sake of bacon. Cows get their children ripped from them, the moment they are BORN. Chickens are DE-FEATHERED ALIVE, then their necks are cracked. Not a humane way in any situation for animals. There is no reason for that.

I’m off my soapbox now! 🙂

My goal is to post a monthly-ish blog about new foods/recipes to venture into. However, I will be traveling to Poland this coming week, so check back next month for a new entry! My blog will remain homeopathic for sure, but now I’m going to implement vegetarian/vegan foods too! If y’all have any recommendations for what brands to try or any recipes, please leave it in the comments below!! I’d love to hear everyone’s experience with new recipes. Please be respectful in other individuals choices to have a different lifestyle than yours. We are all allowed our opinions, and I expect people to respect that others just want to live and do different things. 🙂

As always, eat healthy!

Essential Oils.

Holy moly, it’s been a very LONG time since I have blogged. ( Life has thwarted my blogging. )

I decided to get back into essential oils after having a horrible accident while I was deployed to Afghanistan, in 2012. When I got home, I was told by multiple doctors that I could never walk, run, hike or ride horses ever again. I am an avid runner, and to hear my doctors say this was devastating.

I was talking to a dear friend of mine about my trials, and she sent me a sample of a few oils ( Serenity, Wintergreen and Lemon). I was floored with the results! I immediately joined doTERRA as a Wellness Advocate ( Consultant) and was back to running, hiking, walking, and enjoying horseback riding again. I finished my first half marathon 6 months after being relieved of physical therapy. As you know, I was told that I could never run again, but I ran The Sedona Half Marathon, finishing in two hours and thirty-five minutes. Tears of joy streamed down my face, knowing that I had beat all odds and that the doctors were wrong about my medical status. I have my oils and God to thank for it. I have not taken any medication for pain since I joined 3 years ago. It’s a miracle!

If you are wanting to discover what alternatives there are for you and your family, please contact me. I will get back with you within 72 hours. You will not be disappointed. The journey to wellness starts with one drop!

Now that I am more informed about EO’s, my health, and my belief of truly going holistic with everything, I am going to incorporate essential oil information as well. I have tried other essential oil companies and I have decided that I will only use doTERRA essential oils. My blog will not be a ‘bashing of other oil companies’ blog, and I would expect my readers to reciprocate if they use a different EO brand. I’m so excited to share all sorts of ideas with you regarding doTERRA essential oils!

If you would like to read more about doTERRA, I have a website you can visit! I love talking about essential oils!

Are you ‘Fed Up’?

Are you fed up yet?

Recently, I watched a GREAT documentary called ‘Fed Up’. I highly recommend anyone to watch it. As you all know, I am a HUGE geek when it comes to food, nutrition and exercise. This touched on all of those things, especially food and nutrition. The documentary is narrated by Katie Couric. Even though I am not a fan of hers, she does point out many great points of what is going on in our food system and what should and could be done to our food system. This is the documentary the food industry doesn’t want you to see.

There are 4 children who suffer from obesity in this documentary. My heart goes out to them. The first kid explained and KNEW why he was becoming obese.Children NEED nutrition and they won’t get it from eating processed foods. Diabetes is sky rocketing in today’s generation. It has been increasing year to year and it is so sad to see children have diabetes, whom are 14 or 16 years of age. Not everyone knows how to eat right, or exercise. Things are way to convenient when it comes to cooking a meal. Everyone either has no time, or they are too lazy to cook.

Many people say that eating organic is too expensive and they can’t afford it. However, what they don’t realize is that eating organic IS INDEED cheaper than eating processed, unhealthy foods. I understand that there are people who cannot afford to eat organic, but honestly, you buy organic and COOK your own meals, it WILL be cheaper. Prepping meals for the week and buying in bulk saves a lot of time and money for you. I am living proof that it does work if you put for the effort. I save an average of about $85 a month in food due to cooking my own meals. However, my household is just my dog and I. Feeding a family of 4 can be pricey.

I will be putting together a template ( hopefully soon ) about how to budget your food bills and save money. Stay tuned!

A Few of My Favorite Soaps.

Hello everyone!

I have been doing some digging on soaps, such as: body wash, shampoo / conditioner, and laundry detergent. I was on Facebook when I saw a picture of all the companies who test on animals in my news feed. I stopped to look at the article and I was amazed at how many MAINSTREAM companies test on poor innocent animals. Some of them included: Lysol, Clorox, Arm & Hammer, Colgate, and those are just to name a few. Crazy, isn’t?

I then began to research if making my own soap would be cheaper and it actually would be, however my busy schedule would not allow me to even make time to cook up some soap. My last resort was to just dig, and by did, I mean contacting all the companies that were in the article I read. I called a few, which I won’t name, but they really didn’t answer any of my questions. I asked if they tested on animals and their response ( I am directly quoting the company I called ) was ” Our finally products are NOT tested on animals”. I then asked if the beginning products are tested on animals, and I was pretty much hit with the cold shoulder. Hmm. Interesting how you put these companies on the spot and they start to act like they’ve committed a crime. What do they have to hide?

I’ve been on the organic train for about 12 years now and the GMO free train for about a year and a half now. I have to thank my mom for showing me the better alternatives. Little did we both know that soap would be toxic as well. Especially ones that said “organic” or “natural”, but they were mainstream.

Everyone by EO. It's GMO Free!!!

Everyone by EO. It’s GMO Free!!!

I’ve stumbled upon a particular soaps that I am quite fond of and they are both cruelty free. The first one is the Everyone Soap. It’s made by EO, with ingredients that are pure, natural and organic. There’s a plus to this soap as well… it has 3 in 1 uses! HUGE $$$ saving plus. They also have lotions, hand sanitizer, deodorant, and much more. One more added bonus is, it’s GMO Free! HUGE plus for me.

The Honest Company! Great detergent!

The Honest Company! Great detergent!

The second one is, The Honest Company. I’m trying the laundry detergent with them. Has anyone tried this company yet? I’m quite new to it. I’m really liking how my clothes don’t become super “rough” after I wash them. I’m still doing more research with this company, however they are cruelty free and that is a huge plus for me.

Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps!!! Fair Trade & GMO Free.

Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps!!! Fair Trade & GMO Free.

The third one is, Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps. They are also GMO free and have tons, by tons, I mean TONS of different uses. Their products are cruelty free, vegan, biodegradable, hemp used oils, jojoba oils ( actually a lot of oils) and made with certified fair trade and organic ingredients. You can actually wash your car with this soap. AMAZING, right?

These are just to name a few of my new, and some old favorite soaps. If you have any questions, please leave your comments below! Also, if you know of any other great soaps, please let us all know. I love reading about “unpopular” brands. Thank you so much for reading my blog!

Natural Oven Cleaners!

I was in search of a natural alternative to chemical oven cleaners for weeks.  I stumbled upon another bloggers website and found great info for cleaning your ovens, without the harsh chemicals. I wanted to share this lovely information with you all. 🙂

I used:

  • Vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Salt
  • Wire like sponge ( SOS or Brillo works great)
Make it rain!

Make it rain!

I poured the baking soda and salt all over the place, used a squirt bottle to distribute the vinegar, and I let it foam up and set in. I let it set for about 30 minutes…you only need 20, but I had some problem spots, so I went a little longer. I used a Brillo or SOS like pad to scrub the baking soda and vinegar. ( scrub in a circular motion, it will do you wonders!). After that was done, I just took a damp towel ( just water) and wiped it all away. You’ll have to rinse the towel a bunch of times, but it works! The smell isn’t that bad either.

It is perfect!

It is perfect!

Clean naturally!

Holy cow, it’s been a very LONG time since I’ve blogged about what we eat. Life has been so crazy for me. I’m finally getting into the swing of things, once again.  I have found some new items on my lovely non- GMO list of foods that are just fabulous.

My main concern with GMO’s is that it’s sooooo toxic for our bodies, yet our government thinks it’s perfectly fine. Tell me why they spray our foods with toxic chemicals ( btw they are wearing full body suits, breathing masks, and being told not to have the chemicals touch their bodies) and then say it’s OK to EAT? Boggles my mind!!! WHY??? They don’t care, that’s why. It’s all about population control, I’m so sure of it.

Ok. Now going back to what this blog was meant for…

Butter, sour cream, cream cheese, and anything made with milk…cow’s milk to begin with. I quite often wary of what cow’s milk based products I get.  I have discovered a really creamy, rich butter called, Melt. It’s amazing! I don’t even know how to describe it other than it being, amazing.  Melt is also a soy-free butter. I melted it ( not punt intended) tonight to put in my dish, and it looked like milk. So delicious! I found this at my local Natural Grocers supermarket. I love Natural Grocers; they are my next best thing since I don’t have a Trader Joe’s. They have everything that’s so affordable and sometimes, most times, they have sales left and right.

For those of you that are new to my blog, please feel free to follow along! I try to post new blogs every Sunday. Each entry is either a rant about GMO’s or fabulous findings that are GMO free.
